This is a new piece that I have been slowly working on. It is on an 18″x24″ piece of canvas-textured paper. My technique is to find interesting patterns on magazine pages. I tear a piece out and using matte medium I adhere it to the surface. Then before it becomes permanent I pull it back off. This leaves a shadow of the design and more or less traces of the color. Sometimes I am successful and sometimes not. It is not an exact science. However, being collage I can always adjust for any areas that aren’t cooperating! I’m not sure what the final outcome will be, for this piece, but I am enjoying the journey. The muse, I’m sure, will guide me to the right place. For now I like the soft feel of it and the pockets of interesting shapes and colors.
I participated in Build A Rainbow during the past week. I thought I would post the full set of my miniature contributions. I hope we build another one!
Ah, the last day of Build A Rainbow. The color for today is black and white. I happen to love graphic black and white designs. The center of this is a checkerboard where the “checkers” have varied shapes which is also something I like a great deal. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s black and white designs. Happy Monday!
I am still having fun creating collages in Picasa. I thought I would put one together that consisted of work I completed in 2011. It has both miniatures as well as full size pieces I have put together. Because it includes fewer pieces it is more”collage” and less of a “mosaic”. I love my pieces with trees.
I was away for a day but I am back building my rainbow today. The color for yesterday was green or aqua. I chose multiple shades of green. Today’s color was blue or purple so I chose to use both. With only one more day to go I am starting to think about how I will combine these small colorful pieces into a unique whole. I haven’t figured it out yet because I want to do something besides just placing them flat in some sort of design. I’ll have to give it some more thought. Enjoy!
Here are my small contributions to today’s rainbow. I had yellow on the mind so that is the first one I created. I put a small rainbow of colors in the center. Then I decided to give orange equal time and did another. The orange one looks like it has sunny side up eggs running across it! It was too funny to eliminate! It will be interesting to put these all together at the end of the week. It was great yesterday to go and check out the different creations that everyone made with the “color of the day”. Make sure you go and visit http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/building-a-rainbow-5-days-of-color-pink-or-red.html to see some beautiful art!
In 2009/2010 I created a colection of miniature collages that I did on old, unused exhibition cards. Yesterday I was visiting the sites of many artists who participated in a Art Every Day For A Month Challenge. Many of them had made mosaics of the art they created for the month. I just put Picasa on my system which can easily make collages out of your pictures. Getting excited I went to the folder where I had pictures of all my miniatures and hit the collage button. With a little tweaking on my part, what you see above is the result. I love it and it was SOOOOO easy. What fun.
I am also participating in something called Let’s Build A Rainbow on a blog called Daisy Yellow. Every day there is a color of the day that you use in a piece of art. Today’s color was red or pink and I did a couple of new tags for this challenge.
