Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring / The Winter Garment of Repentance Fling!
The Rubaiyat, Omar Khayyam, 1120 AD
I will be exhibiting my piece, Hopes and Dreams, as part of this exhibit. Below is an excerpt from the curator explaining her vision for this show.
What comes to your mind when we say Spring? Warm sunshine, sprinkles and showers, nature in bloom – all creatures rejoicing in the reawakening spirit of life, green leaves, colorful flowers, busy birds and bees…and people too. Yes, free spirits everywhere delight in this season.
I wanted to have this exhibition for special reasons. The earth’s climate is changing drastically, erasing the distinct seasons we’ve taken for granted for centuries. Nature’s cycles as we know them might not continue– how will future generations understand the paintings and poetry of Primavera, the cultural legacies of Spring? I wanted to see how artists communicate their feelings about the season, before it becomes extinct. I entitled the show Spring Fling to express the flare of radiant, light-hearted spirits in celebration.

Art Gallery at the University Center - 4×6/6×4 Postcard Exhibit
February 20 – March 23, 2012 University Center, Colorado Mesa University
I exhibited five postcards in this exhibit.
They received over 400 postcard-sized artworks, from 174 artists working in 33 U.S. states and 17 countries. Media used included oil, acrylic, pen, pencil, encaustic, fibers, photography, collage, watercolor, varied printmaking techniques, digital, pastel, and mixed media.
More than 50 works were sold at the opening reception, and sales have continued throughout the weeks of the exhibit. All sales proceeds will be donated to the Art Department’s permanent endowment, which will support student programming and equipment purchases.
The link below leads to the exhibit’s web page, which includes a list of Participating Artists.

Hi Kay;
I spent some time this morning going through your galleries trying to find the piece of artwork I saw at the Purple Art Center in Marlborough. I more confused than ever after going through all of your awesome pieces! I have got to say I am so impressed that after 25 years in the corporate world, that you decided to follow your love of art. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. :0
Anyhow, I thought I’d give you my feedback on which pieces caught my eye. My favorites are under the galleries Torn Pieces and Meditation: Summer Memories, Shadow of Youth, Exploring inner streams, Voices, Color Dance. Under the miniture collages I liked: # 071810, 061510, 041310 & 040610.
Lynne, thanks for visiting and traversing my site. You picked out some favorites that are favorites of mine as well such as Exploring Inner Streams and Summer Memories. I wish you had been able to find the one you had seen at Post Road Art just because it’s going to bug me!:) Talk to you soon… –Kay
